1/30/1968Father Francis Xavier, Spanish founder of the Jesuits, 35, and three friends set sail from Lisbon, Portugal for Goa. They became the first Roman Catholic missionaries to travel to India.
7/13/1905Gandhiji opposes Bengal Partition, supports boycott of British goods. During Gokhale Lajpat Rai's deputation to Britain, he appeals to Colonial statesmen to treat India ""an integral part of the Empire"" with consideration. Sanjeevan, weekly from Calcutta, also raised the motto to boycott British Goods.

2/20/1982The Kangla Tongbi war memorial built for 221 members of Advance Base Depot, who laid down their lives to repulse several waves of Japanese attacks, was finally shifted to College of Materials Management Jabalpur. The original memorial was erected on 15 Apr 1946 from local stone and the main epitaph displayed above is of black Naga stone.
