Omeo Kumar Das, one of the great patriots of Assam, passed away at the age of 81. He selflessly worked for the tea plantation workers and made efforts to get them better living standards. He translated Gandhiji's autobiography ""My Experiments with Truth"" in Assamese language.

These stamps bore the Head of Queen Victoria with India at top and value at bottom. The half anna stamp was printed between May 5 to July 29 and printing of one anna stamp commenced on July 26.
8/26/1874Ishwar Sharan Munshi, politician and philosopher, was born.
